Shatter the Cycle – Supporting Survivors and Ending Rape Culture
“As a rape survivor myself, I know firsthand that America has a problem with sexual assault. Nearly half a million of us- 1 in 6 women and 1 in 10 men are sexual assaulted every year. My assault has not defined me. I have evolved from victim to survivor to advocate. It was through faith I found my hope, through sports I found strength and resilience, and through the arts I found my voice. In the 101 year history of the Miss America legacy, there has never been a Miss America who dedicated her year to speaking her truth about this issue. It’s time to help those who have lost their voice by passing the microphone so they can speak for themselves. Together, let’s Shatter the Cycle of silence surrounding sexual assault and rape culture.”
