Bio: Lieutenant (ret) D. J. “Bo” Barton was employed at the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) from 1988-2018. Lt. Barton was the supervisor of the Behavioral Science Unit as a criminal profiler and is board certified in Criminal Investigative Analysis. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Wofford College in 1988 and received his Master of Science in Criminal Justice in 2005 from Charleston Southern University. During his career at SLED, Lt. Barton was assigned to multiple sections. These assignments have included: Bloodhound Tracking Team, SWAT team, Governor’s RAID Team, Undercover Narcotics Section, Violent Crimes Task Force, DEA Task Force, and the Midlands Investigative Unit. He has conducted numerous criminal investigations including, murder, sexual crimes, public corruption, armed robberies, computer related crimes, threat cases and narcotics violations. He was an Adjunct Instructor at the North Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. He has also instructed at the University of Toronto, Newberry College, Ontario Provincial Police Department, South Carolina Police Chief’s Association and the American Academy of Applied Forensics. Lt. Barton was a member of the Association of Law Enforcement Profilers (ALEP) and the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP).

He has been married to his wonderful wife, Donna, since 2017. He has two sons Shane [25] and Lance [21] and an English Bulldog, Bella. His Grandmother and Grandfather opened a dance studio in Columbia, SC in the 1940’s. It was named after his Grandfather, Roy McCulloch School of Dance and taught many Columbia children the art of dance—including him!!!
